Tiga belas tahun yang lalu Vicente Mota Alfaro adalah salah seorang pemeluk Kristen yang taat yang secara rutin mendatangi kelas Minggu dan membaca Injil setiap harinya.

Namun sekarang, dia tidak hanya seorang Muallaf, namun dia adalah Imam Masjid dari Pusat Kebudayaan Islam Valensia (CCIV).

Disamping sebagai Muallaf pertama yang dipersilakan mengimami setiap kali sholat berjamaah, dia juga merupakan anggota Dewan Kepengurusan CCIV sejak 2005.

Pemimpin kelompok Muslim Valensia menetapkan Alfaro sebagai Imam besar, dan berterima kasih atas kerja kerasnya.
“Dia pantas kami pilih karena kehebatan pengetahuan agamanya”, kata El-Taher Edda Sekretaris Umum Liga Islam bagian Dialog dan Perdamaian.

Dia meyakini Alfaro telah menyebarkan pesan yang nyata mengenai Muallaf yang bergabung dalam kekuatan Islam.
Beberapa media setempat tidak lama lalu melaporkan adanya peningkatan jumlah Muallaf di Spanyol, tanpa adanya pertentangan dari pihak manapun.

Diperkirakan Muslim Spanyol berjumlah 1.5 juta dari 40 juta penduduk keseluruhan. Islam merupakan agama terbesar kedua setelah Kristen.

Ketika masyarakat bertanya kepada Alfaro bagaimana dia dapat menjadi seorang Muallaf, dia akan memberikan jawaban yang sederhana.

“Allah telah menjadikan Islam sebagai agama dan hidupku”, katanya mantap.

Saat itu Alfaro berusia 20 tahun dan masih berkuliah ketika dia memutuskan untuk menjadi Muallaf.

“Saya membaca Al-Quran, saya menemukan kebenaran tentang Nabi Isa dan saya putuskan menjadi Muallaf”.
Pada awalnya dia adalah seorang pemeluk Kristen yang taat.
“Dulunya saya rutin pergi ke Gereja tiap Minggu dan membaca Injil setiap harinya”.

“Pada saat itu saya tidak tahu sama sekali mengenai Islam”.
Dia mempunyai seorang tetangga Muslim Algeria yang memperkenalkannya pada Islam.

“Ketika berbincang-bincang dia mengatakan bahwa seluruh umat manusia adalah keturunan Adam dan Hawa, dan semuanya merupakan anak dari Nabi Ibrahim”, kenangnya.
“Saya terkejut mengetahui bahwa dalam Islam juga mengenal Adam, Hawa, dan Ibrahim”.

Perbincangan tersebut rupanya membuat Alfaro muda semakin ingin mengetahui tentang Islam.
“Selanjutnya, saya meminjam salinan Al-Quran dari perpustakaan”.

Dia membawanya pulang dan membaca salinan Al-Quran tersebut dengan teliti.

Namun titik balik bagi Alfaro datang ketika dia membaca kisah tentang Yesus (Nabi Isa) dan kejadian penyaliban.
“Sebelumnya yang saya ketahui adalah Yesus merupakan anak Tuhan yang diutus ke dunia untuk menebus dosa umat manusia, dan sebetulnya hal tersebut cukup mengganggu saya”.

“Dan saya temukan jawabannya dalam Al-Quran. Yesus tidak pernah disiksa ataupun disalib”.

Muslim meyakini Nabi Isa sebagai salah satu Rasul yang diberi penghormatan lebih.

Dalam Islam, Nabi Isa tidak mengalami penyaliban, namun diangkat ke surga dan akan diturunkan kembali pada akhir zaman untuk memerangi Dajjal Al-Masih dan akan membawa kemenangan dan kejayaan bagi Islam.

Dan kisah tersebut merubah keyakinan Alfaro untuk menjadi seorang Muallaf bernama Mansour.

“Dengan cepat saya menyadari bahwa Al-Quran adalah Kitab Tuhan yang sesungguhnya, dan saya tidak pernah menyesal menjadi seorang Muallaf”.(eramuslim)
